Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense

• Trypomastigote in blood, Giemsa stained
• Undulating membrane with free flagellum situated anterior
• A special organelle, “kinetoplast”, situated anterior to the nucleus
• Difficult to differentiate from T. brucei gambiense
