Sarcocystis 

• Stool smear, wet mount
• Oocyst contains 2 sporocysts, each sporocyst contains 4 sporozoites
• Oocyst has a thin wall, causing the oocyst “8” character in appearance
• Often, oocysts are broken and release free sporocysts
• Can not differentiate S. bovihominis from S. suihominis
