Plasmodium vivax

• Thin blood film, Giemsa stained
• Growing trophozoite- “Amoeboid form” with “pseudopodia-like” cytoplasmic extension
• Note infected red cell is larger than uninfected red cell
• Schuffner’s dots appear as fine reddish dots on infected red cell membrane
