Cysticercus cellulosae

 

A metacestode of Taenia solium

 

  • Left : Fresh cyst with host capsule removed.
  • Note : The opaque scolex inside bladder.
  • Right : Carmine stain, whole mount.
  • Note : The scolex with hooklets (Dark area).

 

A cyst from patient’s eye, identified as cysticercus. When compressed between
galss slides and examined under the miceroscope, 4 cup-shaped suckers
and rosellum with hooks are clearly seen (see below)
