Research interest

Our research is interested in the architecture of the positive-strand RNA viruses replication complexes assembly. The structural information will allow us to identify the host factors and viral factors that are related to the replication cycle of viruses, particularly dengue virus. This knowledge will help us gain a better understanding of the whole picture and molecular mechanism of the replication of positive-strand RNA viruses, leading to the development of effective vaccines and antiviral medications.

Short biography

Dr. Nattika Nantachit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. Her B.Sc. degree is in Medical Technology (first class honors) from Chiang Mai University in 2003 and her M.Sc. degree in Immunology from the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in 2007 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panisadee Avirutnan and Dr. Prida Malasit in the topic related to the development of the antiviral drug against dengue virus infection. She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology (International Program) from Mahidol University in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sukathida Ubol. Her doctoral work was about the development of the dengue vaccine. She keeps working on research related to Dengue virus with Prof. Dr. Nopporn Sittisombut.

Current projects

The maturation of viruses is well-defined process to produce the infectious virus particles. It’s a challenge to exploit this knowledge to open new vistas of scientific impact. Here, we apply an innovative approach to elucidate the key molecular mechanism of viruses maturation in the replication complex pathway in order to gain insights for further application.
