Abstract:
Food-dependent, exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) is a special form of anaphylaxis which is characterized by anaphylactic symptomsafter exercise which is temporally associated with ingestion of specific food. Food-intake of exercise alone does not cause anaphylaxis. We describe a case of FDEIA due to ingestion of wheat in a 12-year-old boy. A three-day challenge protocol of wheat-exercise challenge test was done to confirm the diagnosis. Avoidance of exercise 4 hours after consuming causative food is the mainstay of treatment.
