Research interest

Dr. Patcharin has wide interests in the human pathogenic fungi especially Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans. Her research focuses on the understanding of fungal pathogenesis and fungal virulence factors both on a molecular and phenotypic level, and the development of novel antifungal strategies including natural product based nanoparticles. She was also involved in demonstrating in vitro cell culture and in vivo model systems for studying fungal infection.

Short biography

Dr. Patcharin is an instructor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. Her bachelor’s and master’s degree in medical technology from the faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. She graduated her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. She experienced during her PhD at the Institute of Transfusion Medicine, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany and the Mycotic and Parasitic Agents and Mycobacteria, Department of Infectious Diseases, Robert Koch Institute, Berlin, Germany.
